BLACK BUSINESS: THE KEY TO SOUTH AFRICA'S ECONOMIC FUTURE

05 March 2018

Transformation is key to our country’s stability and progress. DIAGEO Empowerment Trust SA recognises the need for the active participation of businesses owned by black entrepreneurs, and especially black women, in our industry.

To help achieve this goal, we have partnered with two empowerment groups, as well as committed to invest venture capital funds of R15 million over the next five years.

WBD helps us recruit businesses that are wholly owned by black females for our supply chain. These new recruits can be drawn from many areas of expertise, including the manufacture and growth of raw materials, glass, bottling and canning, as well as in marketing.

Aurik further helps by recruiting 100% black-owned businesses to handle marketing, asset management (such as fridge maintenance), logistics and warehousing.

It is through these partnerships that black businesses can grow – and take their rightful place in the South African economy.
